Abstract

302,094. Thornton, A. A., (Baldwin Chain Manufacturing Co.). March 19, 1928. Joint pins.-The cross-pin 12 of a link chain is secured in position by a holding pin 14 which extends through the pin 12 and is located in a cup-shaped member 15 that is seated against the surface of one of the linlis, as shown. The parts are assembled by placing the member 15 on the pin 12 and by then pushing the pin 14 through a hole 16 in the cup-shaped member and into the perforation 13 in the end of the cross-pin. The member 15 is then turned slightly and the perforation 16 deformed by a tool to prevent the withdrawal of the pin 14. The pin 14 is of high-grade steel.
