Cotters.-A split cotter pin having two similar arms 2 which are relatively displaced in their plane of section to a greater width than the hole for which the cotter is intended are provided at their ends with pointed ends which in one form are furnished with barbs 3. The arms spring apart to retain the cotter after it has been fully inserted.
