Abstract

Plug couplings; sheathing or covering, connection of.-A socket member is provided with a cord-grip that clamps two or more conductors together at one point and each conductor singly at another point. The insulating body is made in two parts 2, 3 that are positioned relatively bv bosses 21 and recesses 22 and are connected by a bolt passing through holes 23, 25. The conductors pass together through a groove 11, 16 having interengaging projections 15, 17 and then pass singly through grooves 12, 13, 18, 19 having projections 14, 20. Each socket is formed of a sheet brass stamping 32 bent to shape and surrounded by a split steel tube 33. One or both the grooves 6, 7 in which the sockets are housed are elliptical in form to allow movement of the sockets towards or away from one another. The body may be formed with ducts for cooling-air and may be surrounded by an earthed metal collar. A helical wire guard may surround the conductors.
