300,821. Montgomerie, J. A. Dec. 24, 1927. Emulsions, making.-Aqueous emulsions of Mexican or like asphalt are prepared by mixing the molten asphalt, continuously or in batches, with a hot dilute aqueous solution of one or more alkali cresylates, for example sodium cresylate, the proportions being such as to give about 0.5 per cent NaOH reckoned on the asphalt. Stabilizing agents increasing the wetting, penetrating and spreading power of the emulsion, e.g. sodium laurate, may be incorporated. Specification 226,032 is referred to.
