299,909. Carpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Aug. 4, 1927. Indophenols;sulphuretted dyes.-Sulphuretted dyes are obtained by polysulphide fusion in the presence. of copper sulphate of indophenols produced by joint oxidation of p-aminophenol and alkyl ethers of P-oxyaryl-1-naphthylaminemonosulphonic acids, or of the corresponding leuco indophenols. According to examples leuco indophenols obtained by joint oxidation of p-amino. phenol with p-anisyl-1-naphthylamine-6, 7 or 8- sulphonic acid or with p-phenetyl-1-naphthylamine-8-sulphonic acid and subsequently reducing are subjected to alcoholic fusion, under reflux with sulphur, sodium sulphide and copper sulphate. The resulting dyestuffs dye cotton clear, fast, greenish-yellow tints from a sodium sulphide bath. P-Anisyl-1-naphthylamine 6, 7- and 8-sulphonic acids and p-phenetyl-1-naphthylamine-8-sulphonic acid are prepared from 1-methoxy or ethoxy-4- amimobenzene and the appropriate 1-naphthylamine sulphonic acid according to the process of Specification 7337/92.
