Abstract

299,055. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Oct. 20, 1927, [Convention date]. Proofing against vermin; proofing-compositions. -Wool, fur, &c. are protected against attack by moth by treatment with a cold aqueous solution of a non-halogenated non-sulphonated aromatic hydroxy carboxylic acid or a substitution product thereof. As organic or inorganic acid or salt may be added. For example, kilo-grams of the material are treated in a washing machine in 1000 litres of water with 2-hydroxybenzoic acid with or without the addition of organic or inorganic acids and saits, rinsed for a short time, centrifuged and dried. Methyl hydroxy benzoic acids, resorcylic acid and other aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acids and substitution products thereof may be used.
