Alternating-current induction machines; motors, controlling; dynamos, regulating.-A winding for alternating-current machines is adapted to have its connections varied without change of pole number so that it can work on networks of two different frequencies and the change takes place in such a manner that the width of a phase band in one connection is double that in the other. Fig. 1 shows one connection for a four-pole three-phase single-layer winding and above the winding the horizontal line shows 12 adjacent phase bands. For the second connection, Fig. 2, the phase bands are doubled in width by altering the phase of some of the conductors or coil sides and overlap each other. In each case, the supply terminals are u1, v1, w1, the connections being altered at the terminals x1 - - z1, x2 - - z2 and u2 - - w2. In the case of a double-layer winding, each two adjacent groups of conductors or coil sides in each layer which in one connection belong to two different phases are allotted to one phase in the other connection. The invention is applicable to synchronous, asynchronous, and alternating- current commutator machines.
