467,963. Alternating-current motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 3, 1937, No. 3207. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1936. [Class 35] An alternating-current motor has two or more stator magnetic circuits each having a plurality of pole-pieces lying in circular formation between the pole-pieces of the other circuit or circuits, the coils of the circuits being supplied with out - of - phase currents. In the form shown, the pole-pieces projecting from plates 14 and 15 are of the same polarity and are interleaved with the pole-pieces of opposite polarity projecting from plates 13, 16 in such manner that there are two North pole-pieces followed by two South pole-pieces all around the circumference co-operating with a hard steel rotor element 30 carried by a non-magnetic cup 29. A condenser disposed between the plates 14, 15 is in series with winding 22. For three phase operation there are three sets of pole-pieces interleaved, three pole-pieces of one polarity being followed by three of the opposite polarity.
