Abstract

14,643. Heys, F. A., [Neuland Patents, Ltd.]. Oct. 16. Inductor-alternators.-A high-frequency dynamoelectric machine comprises two co-axial rotor elements rotatable in opposite directions and each carrying a series of equally spaced laminated magnetic bars the numbers of which in the two series are such that the points of alinement rotate at a higher angular velocity than the rotor elements, and a stator provided with induced windings in which currents of different frequencies may be generated simultaneously. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the two series of bars are in duplicate and are carried by annular members 10, 11 and 12, 13 formed integral with non-magnetic flange members 8, 9 respectively, the member 8 being driven by a motor 23, and the member 9 by a motor 24. Each laminated bar fits into a slot in the annular member and is formed with a tongue at each end, one of which enters a circumferential groove in the flange member, and the other registers with a circumferential tongue on the annular member, a grooved end ring 18 fitting over the tongue and securely holding the bars in position. An annular insulator 19 may be interposed between the ring 18 and the annular member. The excitation of the machine is produced by a stationary coil 6. The stator is provided with a number of separate windings having different numbers of pairs of pole coils between the successive points of full alinement of the bars, so that currents of different frequencies are produced in the windings. Condensers connected across the windings produce a lead in the phase of the induced current, so that its magnetizing action assists that of the main field. Specifications 13,287/15 and 13,912/15 are referred to.
