Abstract
297,633. Soc. Francaise des Bougies Pognon M. Pognon et Cie. Dec. 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Sparking-plugs. - Powdered packing material L, such as quartz, is placed between the conductor E and insulating member B, which is internally flanged at its lower end to retain the powder L. The space above this packing and above and around the member B is also filled with powdered insulating material M, such as glass. These packings are compressed by the gland P acting through the insulator c the pressure at the same time forcing the end of the rod E into a socket o in the rod D. Metallic washers H, K are placed beneath conical seatings on the two insulators, and on their lower surfaces engage and are penetrated by the sharp edges of shoulders on the casing.
