Piston-rods; pistons, attaching to piston-rods; crossheads. - In a pump or hydraulic powertransmission apparatus, in which the plunger 7 works in centring bushes 5, 6, the piston-rod 9 is formed with a pointed end 10 engaging a recess in the plunger. A sleeve 8, integral with, or secured to the plunger, surrounds the piston-rod. separation of the parts being prevented by a spring 23 confined between a flange on the sleeve 8 and a flange on a cap 18 screwed on to the crosshead.
