Feedwater, supplying. - The condensate from the condenser h of a steam power plant is fed to the boiler through a deaerating chamber a, and make-up feed is supplied to the chamber from a tank v, the flow of condensate and make-up into the chamber being controlled by valves t, w, which are so operated by a float 3 in the chamber that make-up is drawn on only when the water in the chamber falls below a certain level. The make-up is passed through a steam-heated heater x and flashes into steam upon entering the de deaerating chamber. The condensate enters the deaerating chamber through spraying nozzles and is used on its way to the chamber as a cooling medium in the condenser c of the ejector e drawing air and vapour from the chamber. Excess condensate passes into the tank v through a pipe 11 and a non- return valve 12. Water passes from the tank through a non-return valve 14 and pipe 13 into the feed pipe between the booster pump 4 and the feed pump 7 when the booster pump fails.
