Abstract
239,321. Weir, Ltd., G. & J., and Sim, J. July 16, 1924. Liquids and gases, separating.-Boiler feedwater is deaerated by passing it successively through two or more chambers connected in series and maintained at progressively decreasing pressures. Feed-water heated in a tank a by exhaust steam or other means is passed through two superposed deaerating vessels d, f, air and vapour being withdrawn from the second vessel by an ejector p. The restricted inlets c, h, to the vessels are fitted with valves s, t, controlled either by floats u, v, in the vessels or bv hand. A condenser r is interposed between the vessels and the ejector. The water is withdrawn from the second vessel through a pipe k by a pump m, which delivers to the suction of the boiler feed pump. Cold condensate serving as the cooling water of the condenser r is passed through the ejector condenser x and is delivered into the tank a.
