Corrosion, preventing.-To prevent boiler feedwater or other liquid in a tank or vessel from absorbing air, a current of steam is passed over the surface of the liquid, thus providing a continuously-moving air-excluding covering. The absorption. of air by boiler feed-water causes corrosion in the boiler and a diminution of the vacuum in the condenser. The tank may be closed and the steam passed over the surface of the liquid from one end of the tank to the other. The notch or weir 11 in a measuring-tank 8 is enclosed by a chamber or dome 13, and steam is circulated through the topof the chamber by way of inlet and outlet pipes 14, 15. In a modification, the measuring-tank is closed, the steam being passed over the whole surface of the water.
