Abstract
141,171. Weir, G. & J., and Lang, C. R. March 13, 1919. Feed-water, supplying.-Relates to feed-water systems for steamships, of the type described in Specifications 125,149, 125,150, and 126,014, and consists in a closed feed system for the auxiliaries when working in port, so that any boiler may be filled with hot de-aerated water. The auxiliary exhaust pipe A communicates through the loaded valve A with the auxiliary condenser B,' and alsc through a branch pipe A<2> with a surface heater C. Water of condensation is drained from the heater C through the pipe C' to the condenser B. An air ejector D is connected by a pipe D<1> to the bottom of the condenser, and also to a small sea-water condenser D<2> to condense the vapour carried over with the air. A filter chamber B<1> and float cham ber B<2> are provided below the condenser B, and the float controls by known means the supply o steam to the boiler feed-pump E, which pumps water from the chamber B<2> through the surface heater C 'to the boilers. A reserve feed-tank F is connected with the overflow from the main tank and the tank F is connected by a pipe G, providec with a hand-valve G<1>, to the bottom of the con denser B.
