Abstract

295,390. GerÚkgyßrt¾, G. Aug. 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Physical or molecular structure altering by mechanical treatment. - Rods, tubes, gun barrels, shafts for aeroplanes and automobiles, particularly of wrought iron, have the elastic limit increased by applying torsional stress to cause permanent set and then removing the stress. The metal may be heated to a moderate temperature during twisting and may be further worked after treatment. Specification 4320/87, [Class 72, Iron &c.], is referred to.
