Abstract

295,173. White, J. F., and Garnett, Ltd., P. & C. Dec. 16, 1927. Openers and cleaners. -In a machine in which cotton, cotton waste, &c. is subjected to the action of a saw-toothed roller and drawn by suction through a shoot to a revolving cage and in which a blade or deflector is arranged near the periphery of the saw-toothed roller, the entrance H, fig. 1, of the shoot is situated slightly in advance of the blade &c. D. The opening can be regulated by a sliding door h, and a partition h<1> is arranged below the blade to prevent foreign matter being drawn into the shoot. The fan G is mounted on the floor to prevent vibratory movement being imparted to the blade. The revolving cage may be dispensed with and the cotton &c. be drawn from the shoot directly through the fan and delivered as required.
