Abstract

300,256. Hoover, Ltd., (Assignees of White, H. B.). Nov. 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Floors, polishing. - A floor-polishing attachment for a vacuum cleaner, comprises a troughlike shroud G extending throughout the length of the suction nozzle and adapted to seal the longitudinal edges thereof, and a polishing brush M rotatably mounted in the shroud, the brush and shroud being removable, as a unit from the suction nozzle. The shroud G is provided with trunnions G<2> for insertion in slots in side, members E of the frames which normally carries the carpet-beating brush or other rotary members, latch members, being provided to lock the shroud in place. The stock J of the polishing brush is rotatably mounted at each end in bearings adapted to fit within U-shaped flanges H in the shroud, being retained in place by means of U- shaped spring members H<1>. The shroud G is formed with an opening O for passage of the belt B', by means of which the brush M is driven from a pulley on the fan of the vacuum cleaner.
