218,877. Wild, Ltd., F. & A., and Quinn, F. Aug. 31, 1923. Openers and cleaners.-In machines for cleaning cotton, cotton waste and like fibrous material in which the material after being subjected to the action of a saw-tooth, cylinder b is drawn by suction through a shoot c and deposited on a revolving cage, of which a portion of the periphery is open to a suction draught so as to remove dust, an adjustable blade a, secured as shown in Fig. 2, is arranged adjacent to the cylinder b and to the shoot so as to deflect foreign matter loosened by the action of the cylinder b in conjunction with the feed rollers f. The cylinder b may be 14" in diameter and may rotate at from 1200 to 1400 revolutions per minute. The Provisional Specification states that a dish and roller feed mechanism may be employed.
