Magneto - - electric machines. - An ignition generator is adapted to supply a lighting circuit by connecting in parallel with the interrupter a group comprising a capacity in series with the lamps. As shown in Fig. 1, the primary winding 3 of the generator has in parallel therewith the usual condenser 4 and interrupter 5, and in addition a condenser 6 connected in series with the lamps 7. A switch 8 and resistance 9 may be arranged to short-circuit the interrupter without extinguishing the lamps. The usual condenser 4 may be omitted. If a battery is employed in conjunction with the generator, the need for a reverse current switch may be avoided by the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 in which a commutator 11 in series with the condenser 6 is connected to the battery 10. In this case, the ignition apparatus may be shortcircuited by disconnecting and earthing both leads from the commutator to the battery by means of the double-pole switch shown, or the condenser itself may be short-circuited. The Specification. as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that where large currents are required a separate primary winding may be employed. Also that the condenser 6 may be stationary or rotatable and aaranged either inside, or outside the device; also that resistances or self induction coils may be aranged in series with the condenser in the lighting circuit. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
