Abstract

197,924. Soulier, D. A. May 17, 1922, [Convention date]. Systems of charging and discharging condensers. -An electric supply system comprising electrolytic condensers is provided with means for submitting the condensers to an increased voltage. An additional source of voltage b, Fig. 1, is adapted to be connected in series with the normal generator A by means of a switch c. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 the increased voltage is obtained by a transformer b<1>, b<2>, the secondary winding of which is controlled by a switch c. In a modification, an auto-transformer is employed. In a further modification, a variable inductance is adapted to be connected in series with the condensers. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6, two condensers are normally connected in series across the line and a switch c is adapted to short-circuit either of the condensers. A resistance f is inserted during the switching operations. The arrangement may be employed on polyphase systems.
