Abstract

383,132. Charging batteries. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Feb. 24, 1932, No. 5536. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1931. [Class 38 (iv).]. In a battery-charging arrangement involving rectifying means R a resonating circuit is arranged to affect the impedance of the C.A. side to stop the charging current at a given battery voltage. As shown in the Figure, an adjustable portion of the charging current passes through one winding of a choke CK2, which has a second winding in the A.C. circuit. The choke may be saturated less than full charging current. A condenser C in parallel with the second winding causes resonance at the supply frequency when the battery voltage has risen so much that the reduced charging current shall have sufficiently increased the inductance of the choke. In a modification a resonating circuit is arranged in the local circuit including the winding CK2 and the resistance W.
