Abstract
627,932. Electric aireas. CHAPMAN, G. A. Aug. 14, 1947, No. 22668. [Class 39(iii)] [Also in Group XIV] An electrically-heated airer has independently controllable heating elements in at least two of its cross rails which are telescopic and allow access to the heating elements. As shown the airer comprises two tubular posts 20, 21 to which are welded horizontal rails 22-25, 22<SP>1</SP>-25<SP>1</SP> which are a telescopic fit. The rails are held in position by a catch 26. Fitting telescopically into the posts 20, 21 and held in position by spring blades 30 are two further sections 28, 29 also provided with telescopic rails. Each rail accommodates a heating element E22 with terminals 38, 39 to which are connected flexible conductors 41, 42. The flexible conductors for all the heating elements are led to a switch box 43 with a separate switch for each pair of elements. The conductors are connected through busbars 54, 59 to connecter pins. Each switch comprises a plunger 46 which in its inner position engages a conducting ring 52 to complete the circuit to the heating elements through spring blades 48, 49. In a modification the heating elements are provided with contact pins which engage eyelets in slats of insulated material in the frame post.
