Abstract

293,587. Turnbull, W. R. Aug. 16, 1927. Variable-pitch propellers. - A variable-pitch propeller with an electric motor 13 having a shaft 17 at right angles to the main propeller axis and operating a worm gear 18, 19 contains a second worm gear 21, 22 the gear 22 being mounted on the shank of the blade 11. The shank has an inner ball race 12. The motor is connected to collector rings in an insulating disc 23 on the propeller boss. A switch 26 is incorporated which is under the control of the pilot, this control being also connected with the engine throttle.
