Printing processes.-Fabrics made of or containing cellulose esters or ethers are coloured uniformly or locally by subjecting the fabric to pressure in contact with a transfer sheet or member having the colouring matter deposited thereon. The fabric is preferably moistened with a solvent for the colouring matter before being pressed, and the transfer may be effected by passing the fabric and transfer sheet, which may be of paper, fabric, or flexible metal, between engraved rollers which are preferably heated. The fabric may be embossed by the processes described in Specifications 254,354 and 273,406.
