Abstract

An iron-on textile material is produced by applying particles of adhesive to a textile material and sintering the particles to the material by passing the material carrying the particles through the nip between a pair of rollers, the roller in contact with the textile material being heated, while the roller in contact with the particles is cooled. The heated roller may carry an engraved pattern. Several pairs of rollers may be arranged in succession or a single cooled roller may press against two heated rollers. The textile material may be a non-woven fabric consisting of viscose and polyvinyl alcohol fibres, or a cotton-poplin woven fabric. The particles may be of polyethylene or polyvinyl acetate.ALSO:A process for the production of an iron-on textile material comprises applying particles of adhesive to a textile material and sintering the particles to the material by passing the material carrying the particles through the nip between a pair of rollers, the roller in contact with the textile material being heated while the roller in contact with the particles is cooled. The heated roller may carry an engraved pattern. Several pairs of rollers may be arranged in succession or a single cooled roller may press against two heated rollers. The textile material may be a man-woven fabric consisting of viscose and polyvinyl alcohol fibres, or a cotton-poplin woven fabric. The particles may be of polyethylene or polyvinyl acetate.
