Abstract

292,276. Carter, B. C. March 26, 1927. Dynamometers rotary transmission, with recording-apparatus; traction indicators.- For recording the variations of torque transmitted to an aircraft propeller, a spring coupling is introduced between the propeller hub and a sleeve 1 on the engine shaft, and a stylus or sparking point 30 is mounted on a lever 29 pivoted on an arm 32 on the sleeve 1 and provided with a tooth 34 engaging teeth 35 on a member secured to the propeller hub. The stylus 30 co-operates with a disc 36, Fig. 5, which can be moved into contact with the stylus by rotating a ring 41 by Bowden mechanism, the ring having projections 40 which normally enter recesses in the back of the plate 36. Propeller thrust may be recorded by making provision for axial movement against a spring washer between the propeller hub and the end of its shaft and transmitting the movement through bevel teeth to a lever similar to the lever 29.
