Static contact rectifiers, arrangement of.- Copper oxide and like rectifiers are arranged in series-connected groups 4 disposed radially within a metal casing 1 and clamped by screws 2 against a prismatic central member 3. For polyphase working, two such arrangements in which the rectifiers are oppositely disposed as regards direction of current flow may be employed, the load being connected between the two casings 1 with which the outer electrodes contact whilst the inner electrodes are connected to the terminals of a three phase supply source. Alternatively, connections may be made from the midpoints of the rectifier groups to polyphase supply terminals, the load being connected between the casing 1 and a central member 3 of conducting material in contact with the inner electrodes. To facilitate cooling, a number of sets 14 of rectifiers may be placed in a tubular casing 11, Fig. 4, in communication with a fan 12.
