891,215. Generators operating by electromagnetic interaction with fluids. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. Aug. 29, 1960 [Aug. 27, 1959], No. 29702/60. Class 35. In a magnetohydrodynamic generator in which ionized gas is forced through a magnetic field, direct current is collected by electrodes such as E 11, E21, E12, E22, which are divided in the direction of gas flow and separately insulated. Each pair of electrodes is connected to an inverter such as WR1, WR2 and thence to a load L. All pairs of electrodes may be connected in series with the load, Fig. 2 (not shown), or several pairs of non-adjacent electrodes may each be connected in series with an inverter, the inverters supplying a load in parallel, Fig. 4 (not shown).
