[Class 38 (iv)] An electric discharge protective device with low leakage current value for low-voltage apparatus e.g. copper-oxide rectifier units, against lightning and other surges consists of discs of carbon separated by a thin dielectric layer of sodium silicate baked on it and rubbed down so as to have a thickness lying between the limits ¢ to 5 mils.
