Abstract

291,769. Kabelwerk Duisburg, (Assignees of Paetsch, 0.). June 8, 1927, [Convention date]. Cables, arrangement and disposition of parts of.-The cores of paper - insulated multiple - conductor c a b 1 e s for large currents are stranded together with filling, false cores etc., so that when a small change in the cable length occurs through subsidence, the cable cores are adapted to contract towards the cable centre, or are pressed outwards towards the lead sheathing. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, conductors a wound with paper insulation bare stranded together with a filling c so that the cable cores do not touch each other or the cable covering. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the cable cores are wound with tubular compressible threads c, the cores being then stranded in contact with each other and filling inserted in the free spaces. As shown in Fig. 3, wedge-shaped false cores c may be inserted between the cable cores and a compressible filling d which surrounds the cable inside the lead sheathing. The space between the cable cores is also filled.
