Abstract

290,700. Taylor, W. W. Jan. 20, 1927. Water-paints.-A water-paint or wood finish comprises a drying-oil containing free fatty acid, and an aqueous solution of a single or primary alkaline alginate, or a mixture of two or more of such alginates, with or without pigments. Sodium, potassium, ammonium or magnesium alginates are suitable. In an example, 10 parts by weight of a 3-4 per cent, equeous solution of ammonium alginate are mixed with 1-2 parts of raw or boiled linseed oil, or linseed oil substitutes, 1 part of raw tung oil, and 20-30 parts of pigment. The tung oil may be replaced by linseed oil or its substitutes.
