Nach den in der Pigmentfarbenindustrie üblichen Verfahren war es bisher nicht möglich, Naphtholgelb in wasser- und überdruckechte Farblacke überzuführen. Der in der Tapetenindustrie zum Leimen der Druckfarben vorwiegend verwendete alkalische Pflanzenleim spaltet den üblichen Naphtholgelblack und bewirkt hierdurch sowohl Anbluten von aufgedrucktem Weiß wie auch das gefürchtete Durchschlagen.
