Abstract

289,383. Verein f³r Chemische und Metallurgische Produktion. April 25, 1927, [Convention date]. Hydrofluoric acid substantially free from silicon compounds is obtained from vapours containing hydrofluoric acid and silicon fluoride obtained for example by decomposing fluor spar with sujphuric acid by first removing the water vapour and condensing substantially anhydrous hydrofluoric acid. The water may be removed either by fractional condensation, the water being separated in the first fractions or by passage over dehydrating agents such as ordinary or fuming sulphuric acid, or alkaline earth sulphates. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the use of sulphates and bisulphates of the alkali metals as dehydrating agents. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
