Abstract
289,102. Loeb, J. M. April 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Drawings to Specification. Vacuum tubes.-For multiplexing telephone conversations &c. by distributors having a frequency say four times the highest acoustic frequency which it is desired to reproduce, electronic distributors may be used, each comprising a central filament, a grid and plate for each conversation channel and for a synchronizing channel, and a cage of wires carrying threephase currents for creating a rotating magnetic field (say 16,000 rotations per second) which makes the channels effective in turn by directing the electron-flow towards the different plates. The rotating field systems of the transmitter and receiver are supplied by local three-phase sources; lack of synchronism is corrected by mounting the cage at the receiver on a synchronous motor, of which the rotor is connected in the synchronizing channel while the stator is fed from the local three-phase source, so that the cage rotates with a speed equal to the difference of of the speeds of the two rotating fields.
