Abstract

4345. Soc. M. Latour et Cie. Feb. 20, 1913, [Convention date]. A l t e r n a t i n g - current induction machines. - A dynamo-electric machine having a polyphase stator A and a single phase rotor B, or vice versa, is used to transform currents of a frequency nf into a frequency (n + 2) f, where n is any whole number and f is the frequency proper of the machine. In the system shown, diphase currents of frequency nf are introduced through the terminals a, b, d to the stator windings A, producing a field of frequency nf rotating in the opposite direction to the rotor B, which has a speed f. Single-phase current of frequency (n + 1) f is thus produced in the rotor, and this in turn produces currents of frequency nf and (n + 2) f in the stator windings. Condensers c', c<2> neutralize the self-induction of the stator windings for the frequencies nf, (n+2) f. Current of frequency (n+2) f may be drawn from the terminals a', b<1>, d', and these currents may be converted iuto currents of frequency (n + 4) f by the same method in the same or another machine.
