Alternating-current commutator machines.-Relates to arrangements for transmitting angular speeds to a distance, i.e. for obtaining synchronous running of distant motors at variable speeds by transmitting synchronizing currents from one machine to the other. In the arrangements employing repulsion motors, the receiver motor is provided with field components differing from each other in phase in order to obtain a resultant field similar in character to that of the transmitter motor. Fig. 8 shows a form of transmitter motor in which the stator winding 31 has a commutator 37, 38 with movable brushes for varying the speed, the brushes bearing on the rotor commutator 33 being stationary.
