Abstract

157,059. Latour, M. Dec. 18, 1918, [Convention date]. Open to inspection under Sect. 91 Dec. 24, 1920. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Alternating-current systems; harmonic telegraphs; systems with telephonic receiving- arrangements.-In a multiplex telegraph system, a number of messages are simultaneously transmitted by using currents of different low frequencies, preferably below audible frequency, which are stepped up to a higher frequency at the receiving-station to render them audible. The signalling frequencies may be stepped up at the receiving-station (1) by sending the low-frequency currents through the exciting-field of the first of a series of alternating-current generators arranged in cascade, (2) by using the low-frequency currents to excite a compound alternator consisting of a squirrel-cage rotor and two twin stators, or (3) by using the low-frequency currents to excite a simple alternator of musical frequency. The different signalling currents may be separated from one another in known manner.
