Abstract
288,588. Soc. Anon. Le Carbone. April 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Carburetting. - In a spray carburettor a chemical decomposition of volatile spirit atomized with air is obtained by the action of a catalyst heated to a temperature of 300-400 C., and the products are mixed with the additional air necessary for combustion. The catalyst, in the form of active carbon cylinders e with channels f, is contained in tubes d, which are enclosed by a casing a and exposed to exhaust heat. In a modification, the spirit is vaporized before reaching the catalyst by passage through a group of heated tubes containing copper wire or metal shavings.
