Abstract

288,397. Oglesby, S. W., and Brehmer Folding Box Co., Ltd. Feb. 2, 1927. Reels.-A reel of plywood, cardboard, &c. for heavy weights such as flexible electric cables comprises two centrally perforated end flanges a of plywood &c., a cylindrical hub c of strawboard &c. and centrally perforated blocks b of strawboard &c. secured to the inner faces of the ends and supporting the insides of the rim of the hub c. The parts may secured together by metal ties d<1>, passing through the wall of the hub and through slots in the flanges, the ends being turned down and secured by rivets, screws &c. e which also pass through the flanges a and blocks b. In a modified form adapted for carrying lighter weights the metal ties d<1> may be replaced by rivets, wire staples, &c. and the hub is fastened to the blocks b by glue and pins or nails.
