Transformers.-In order to reduce the effect of clamping bolts or rivets on the effective cross section of laminated coils, rivets of such cross sectional dimensions as not to extend so much across the path of the flux as in the direction of the flux are employed. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to a shell type transformer in which rivets 15 of elongated rectangular cross section are used in building up the core 10.
