Electric radiators; resistance ovens.-Heating elements 6 concealed behind a canopy 2 in the upper part of the fire direct heat on to a polished hearth 4 or trivet 3 from which it is reflected into the room so that the heat appears to come from the imitation fire in the grate. The elements are rotatable about a horizontal axis so that the heat may be directed upwards into a cooking or plate warming chamber 10, fitted in front with a door 9 or a grille through which the hot air escapes, and at the bottom with co-operating apertured plates 16, one of which is movable. A ventilating flue 24 fitted with a damper is arranged at the back of the chamber. The imitation fire comprises coke or glass 17 supported on a coloured glass or wire screen 18 and illuminated by lamps 19 incorporating known flashing devices. The lamps may be coloured and may be covered by an inner opaque apertured screen. A steady red glow is produced by a lamp 20 coloured or screened by a red screen. The lamp is arranged under the trivet and effectively screened by a reflector 21. A reflector 8 is arranged at the back of the fire and when the chamber 10 and flue 24 are not provided this reflector is bent over at the top to form the canopy for concealing the heating elements. According to the first Provisional Specification the grate can be laid ready for a coal fire which can be lighted after removal of a detachable frame.
