[Class 126.] A gas-heated reflector stove comprising an open-fronted body formed by a base frame A on which are mounted side plates and a vertical or forwardly-inclined heat-reflecting back plate B, is heated by incandescent mantle lighting burners F arranged below and forward of the back-plate, and is combined with a flameless imitation fire mounted in the lower front part of the body and constructed, in the form of a box of triangular or other section, from transparent plain and coloured plates, panels, or slabs D', D<2>, D<3>, E. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the imitation fire is formed from semi-transparent moulded and coloured vertical and inclined slabs D<1>, D<2>, and a transparent back formed of mica or wired glass sheets, preferably with an air space between them. In the stove shown in Fig. 4, an additional rearwardly inclined slab D<3> is employed. Flat or curved coloured mica screens b above the row of burners F allow heat and coloured light to pass up to the reflector B, which may have a surface formed of small pyramidal points. Alternatively, metal louvres b<2>, Fig. 7, having their under sides coloured red or orange, and their upper sides of the same colour as the reflector, may be employed. Spinners H may be mounted over one or more of the burners to give a flickering flame effect, in which case one of the baffles b<1> above the burners is preferably of crinkled glass. The lighting burners F may alternate with burners heating fire-clay radiants. One or more batswing burners F<2> may supplement the burners F. The imitation fire may be mounted in a hinged frame A', or may be removable, to give access to the burners, or a pivoted pilot jet may be employed for lighting them. A metal reflector G may be employed below the burners, and consists preferably of a corrugated and perforated sheet with yellow glass below to throw yellow light on the hearth. The rear reflector B may be continued below the reflector G as shown in Fig. 4. The trivet a<1> is preferably polished to form a reflector. The back of the stove may be double to form an air-heating flue. The Provisional Specifications refer to the use of oil burners in the stove.
