Abstract

287,944. Sessions, A. J. Oct. 2, 1926. Incandescent vapour burners; vaporizing-apparatus; mantle supports.-A liquid - fuel burner comprises a preferably stepped cylinder 16 which is formed at its base with flame apertures 22 and is threaded into a gallery 14 which is connected by arms 11 to a collar 10 on a tubular member 7 secured to a pressure fuel reservoir 1. The fuel issuing from the member 7 through an orifice 13 enters the burner through an aperture in a seating 21 and impinges on a baffle 20 carried by an adjustable screw 19. The upper surface of the cylinder 16 may be formed with flame apertures 18 for heating an incandescent mantle carried by a fork secured to the rod 19. Alternatively the burner may be provided with tubular branches terminating in burner heads carrying inverted incandescent mantles. The gallery 14 is preferably provided with a flame-deflecting flange 15. A pressure gauge 3 may be secured in the closure member 4 of the reservoir filling-tube 5. The burner may also be used in stoves, boilers, furnaces, &c.
