Abstract
169,316. Shannon, J. July 7, 1920. Atmospheric vapour burners; vaporizing-apparatus.-In a vapour oil stove of the pressure type, the vaporizing-tube 4 is screwed in a socket 5 on the fuel reservoir 1 above the feed-pipe 7 and passes through the burner head 3 and mixing- chamber 2. The vaporizing tube 4 is provided at the top with a star or similarly shaped heatcollector 8, which may be hollow to form an extension of the vaporizer. The vapour issues from the vaporizing-tube or the hollow heat collector through a pipe 9 to a valve-regulated injector nozzle 10 and mixes with air in an induction tube 12 and the chamber 2. The burner head, which may consist of plain and corrugated metal sheets rolled together, is surrounded by a starting-trough 13 containing an incombustible wick 14. The trough 13 is of such a size that its flame impinges on the fins of the heat-collector 8. A similar trough 15 containing a similar wick 16 is arranged below the injector nozzle 10. The mixing-chamber and burner head may be secured on the tube 4 between a fixed collar 4a and a screwed collar 4<b>. A surger 18 consisting of a wire coil or a wire coiled with asbestos twine may be provided in the tube 4. The heat-collector 8 when hollow, may be fitted with a removable cleaning-plug 19 or may be made in two separable parts.
