Abstract

Regulating. - In a steam prime mover, such as a turbine, operating with boiler and accumulator steam, the regulator which cuts off the supply of accumulator steam and connects the prime mover to boiler steam when the accumulator falls below a predetermined limit, is controlled by a differential pressure-responsive device, the pressure employed being that in the accumulator, and that in a stage of the turbine and dependent on the load on the turbine. The frame e, f, which actuates the regulator, is acted on by a bellows diaphragm a connected to the accumulator, and by a diaphragm b connected with the first stage of the admission of accumulator steam to the turbine. A spring i of adjustable tension also acts upon the frame, and serves to shut off accumulator steam when its pressure has reached a certain amount. The adjustment of the spring may be effected by a hand or power operated worm wheel l. The bellows a, b may be replaced by differential pistons.
