Cellulose acetates, nitrates, and xanthates, ammoniacal-copper cellulose solutions, and other cellulose solutions, making filaments from; preparatory treatment of raw cellulosic materials.- Cellulose obtained from the bagasse of sugar cane by the method of Specifications 277,163 and 287,516, [both in Class 96, Paper &c.], is used in the manufacture of artificial silk. Reference is made to the conversion of the cellulose into esters, particularly nitrates, acetates, and xanthates, and to its solution in alkalis and ammoniacal copper solutions.
