Abstract
287,195. Muir, J. Nov. 11, 1926. Securing wheels on shafts.-A shockabsorbing device of the kind described in Specification 8957/05, shown applied to a vehicle wheel but stated to be applicable to bearings or other mechanical devices, is modified by (a) the provision of an annular space b between the sleeve c on which the loosely-packed balls d are supported, and the axle a ; (b) the provision of one or more auxiliary ball-chambers h the dimensions of which can be varied by means of screw-plungers i; (c) the provision of an arm l on the hub-plate j to engage an eccentric m looselymounted on the wheel e-stated to prevent sudden application of the driving-torque; and (d) the hub-formation providing a ball-chamber wider than the wheel. The sleeve c is free to move in annular slots in the hub-plates j; clearances f being also provided in the wheel to permit displacement of the bolts g.
