Abstract
286,715. Jaeger & Co. Pumpen-und Geblõse-Werk, C. H. March 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Exhaust-silencers.-The silencer, which is particularly applicable to the suction or delivery sides of rotary blowers, consists of one or more nozzles or tubes of Venturi form attached directly to the inlet or outlet. There is a simple conversion of pressure into velocity energy and vice versa, and the loss of pressure which accompanies the usual repeated deflection of the directicn of flow is avoided. In Fig .1, the tube or nozzle 1 is attached to the inlet side 2 of a blower 3 of the Roots type. In another form it is attached to the outlet side. Two or more such tubes may be arranged in series either end to end or, in order to save space, with one tube 1<a>, Fig. 4, reversed over the inner tube 5. The exterior of the inner tube 5 may be tapered as in Fig. 4 tc produce a passage 6 of gradually increasing area or, as in Fig. 5, 'the annular passage may be of uniform width and subdivided by a number of bridge pieces 7, 8.
