Abstract

Lantern screens; mounting electric lamps in lanterns.-In a vehicle or like lamp, an electric lamp bulb is mounted at the centre of a number of radially arranged plane fins a, the bulb holder h being situated close to the front glass. The fins may be given a matt finish, or they may be coated with colouring matter to make them non- reflecting. The holder h is carried by a tube g secured to the inner edges of the fins and is axially adjusted for focusing purposes by means of a threaded sleeve i. The outer ends of the fins slide in grooved guides a<1> on a cylindrical front extension b of a parabolic reflector b which is supported within the lamp casing by means of a number of brackets m, two of which carry insulators n for guiding the electric conductors o. In a modified form, the radial fins above and below the axis of the lamp are replaced by a semicylindrical fin attached to the underside of the two horizontal radial fins.
